Amazo vs. Bastion: The Clash of Adaptive Super-Robots

Introduction
In this episode of the Dynamic Duel Podcast, twin hosts Marvelous Joe and Johnny DC pit two of the most powerful artificial intelligence beings in comic book history against each other: Amazo from DC and Bastion from Marvel. As highly adaptable androids, both characters present a unique challenge to one another, making this one of the most unpredictable duels yet. Using their Monte Carlo simulation, the hosts determine who would win in a battle of technological supremacy.
Breaking Down the Combatants
The episode begins with an in-depth look at each character’s history and abilities. Marvelous Joe covers Bastion, the ultimate evolution of the Sentinel program in the X-Men universe. Originally a fusion of Master Mold and Nimrod, Bastion transformed into a cybernetic leader, capable of controlling sentinels and adapting his own techno-organic body to counter any threat. His ability to manipulate technology, including infecting others with a sentinel-based nanovirus, makes him one of the deadliest threats to mutants.
Johnny DC then dives into the history of Amazo, the Justice League’s infamous android foe. Created by Professor Ivo, Amazo possesses an absorption cell that allows him to replicate the abilities of any metahuman he encounters. Over the years, various versions of Amazo have appeared, ranging from androids that can copy only one power at a time to iterations that contain all Justice League abilities simultaneously.
Simulation and Analysis
Before running the 1,000 Monte Carlo simulations, the hosts compare the combatants’ strengths and weaknesses. They determine that while Amazo has superior speed and strength, Bastion excels in durability, intellect, and versatility. Bastion's ability to techno-morph and manipulate nanotechnology gives him a unique advantage over Amazo, despite the latter’s capacity for mimicking powers.
One of the key discussions revolves around Amazo’s ability to copy Bastion’s powers. While it may seem like an even match, the question remains whether Amazo would recognize and utilize this ability before Bastion takes control of the battle with his techno-organic virus. The debate leads to an improvised battle scenario where the hosts imagine how a confrontation between the two androids might unfold.
The Battle Speculation
The battle scenario sees Bastion scanning Amazo first, launching an assault with missile pods. Amazo retaliates by dodging and countering with energy blasts, using the very technology he assimilates from Bastion. As the fight progresses, the two opponents continuously adapt, with Amazo mimicking Bastion’s attacks and Bastion using his nanotech to attempt to control Amazo’s systems.
The hosts explore the idea of both characters accessing time travel abilities, allowing them to recruit and manipulate characters from their respective universes. This speculation leads to humorous yet terrifying implications, such as Amazo copying the abilities of every DC hero in existence, while Bastion assimilates them into his own army.
The Winner Revealed
Despite the intense speculation, the Monte Carlo simulation ultimately determines a winner. After running 1,000 battles, Bastion emerges victorious, winning 552 of the matches, giving him a 55.2% win rate over Amazo’s 44.8%. The results highlight Bastion’s superior intelligence and adaptability, as he would likely outmaneuver Amazo before the android could take full advantage of his copying ability.
Although fans on Instagram overwhelmingly favored Amazo, with 70% predicting his victory, the numbers tell a different story. The hosts acknowledge that this match was incredibly close, and given the right circumstances, Amazo could still stand a chance.
