April Fools Tournament Pits Thunder God Against Psycho-Powered Tyrant

April Fools Tradition Continues with Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter
Each year on April Fools Week, the DynaMic Podcast Network trades Marvel vs. DC for something more unexpected. This time, the hosts of Dynamic Duel, Johnny DC and Marvelous Joe, return to a familiar crossover: Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter. Round two of this multiversal tournament features the thunder god Raiden clashing with the dictator of darkness, M. Bison. This match followed the kickoff bout hosted on Konsole Kombat, and precedes the next match on Max Destruction and the finale on Senjoh World.
Both Universes Have Ties to Marvel and DC
Though outside their usual scope, the Duel hosts point out that both franchises have crossed into comic territory. Mortal Kombat famously crossed over with DC Comics in video games and tie-in comics, while Street Fighter has appeared in the Marvel vs. Capcom game series. These links made the matchup a fun and relevant fit for the podcast's format, even during an off-brand week.
M. Bison and Raiden: Two Powerhouses Face Off
As usual, the hosts delved deep into each character’s backstory and abilities. M. Bison was presented as the power-hungry, soul-transferring overlord of the criminal syndicate Shadaloo. His powers include teleportation, enhanced strength, flight, and the devastating Psycho Power. Meanwhile, Raiden is Earth's divine protector, a thunder god from Mortal Kombat lore who has clashed with the likes of Shao Kahn and even Darkseid in previous crossover events. The version of Raiden used in this duel was from the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe era.
A Wildly Imaginative Speculative Match
The speculative scenario saw both characters trade blows in a high-powered spectacle full of teleportation, electric blasts, psycho bursts, and psychic warfare. Raiden slammed his fists to the ground to send electrical currents through the earth, while Bison countered with his signature Skull Diver and Psycho Crusher. The fight escalated with energy shields, lightning bolts from the sky, and even mind control via Psycho Power. One outcome saw Raiden delivering a spine-electrocuting fatality. Another had Raiden mistakenly performing a “friendship” move, allowing Bison to seize control of his mind and add the thunder god to Shadalu’s ranks.
The Results… Are Elsewhere
Unlike typical duel episodes, this match ended without a declared winner. In a clever twist, the talking comic book that introduced the match transformed into a video game console and flew through a portal. The hosts revealed that the results would be revealed later in the week on the other shows in the DynaMic Podcast Network. Listeners are encouraged to catch round three on Max Destruction and the final showdown—including the overall tournament victor—on Senjoh World.
